Heal. Restore. Become.

Learn more about our purpose

The Kin House is a Christ-centered transitional home devoted to rebuilding the lives of children rescued from human trafficking. We provide a safe place to heal, restore, and become. Offering trauma-informed care, compassionate community, and the unwavering love of Jesus as each child begins their journey toward wholeness.

Our vision is to be a place of safety, healing, and new beginnings for children rescued from human trafficking.

The Kin House exists to offer more than shelter, we offer a Christ-centered home where restoration begins. Our vision is to build a safe house in rural Iowa where up to ten residents at a time can receive trauma-informed care, personalized support, and the love of a consistent, present community. Through therapy, daily life rhythms, and spiritual nurture, we walk with each child on their journey toward healing and reintegration with dignity, hope, and the unwavering belief that their light will rise again.

OUR MISSION

ISAIAH 60:1-3

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you. Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”

THE KIN HOUSE

Where Darkness Falls, Light Always Breaks Through

We believe that even in the deepest darkness, God’s light breaks through. Every child we welcome has endured unthinkable pain, but we speak this truth over them: Arise, shine, for your light has come. With trauma-informed care, unwavering love, and the presence of Jesus, we help each child begin again—rising not as a victim, but as someone made to carry light. What begins as rescue becomes restoration. And in time, what was once broken begins to shine—becoming a light that draws others into hope.

The Reality we Face

Human trafficking is not just a global crisis .. it’s a local one. Every day, children are being bought, sold, and exploited through force, fraud, or coercion.. often hidden in plain sight. It affects every state, every city, and every community. Behind every number is a name, a story, and a child who deserves safety, healing, and hope.

  • Behind every number is a face, a name, a child. Globally, children make up 25% of all human trafficking victims. They’re exploited for sex, labor, and other forms of abuse. Child trafficking doesn’t just happen overseas—it’s happening in all 50 U.S. states, often hidden in plain sight.

  • Rescue is only the first step. Every year, thousands of children are freed from trafficking—yet too many have nowhere to go. Without safe, trauma-informed care, their healing is stalled. They need homes like The Kin House, where healing begins and true restoration can take root.

  • Right now, an estimated 12 million children worldwide are living in modern slavery—forced into sexual exploitation, labor, or both. These are not just statistics. These are sons and daughters, image-bearers, waiting to be seen, rescued, and restored.
